About The Tour
J.P. Brown
Founder and Co-director
J.P. Brown is the Founder and Co-director of the West Coast Tour and a longtime competitor in professional golf. Upon receiving his degree in Golf Facility Management from the San Diego Golf Academy in 2003, he set his sights on playing professional golf and entered into a variety of different open professional events. He competed on mini-tours throughout California and Arizona, accumulating multiple victories along the way. His first experience with professional tour operations didn’t come until 2007, and has worked a variety of operational positions since his employment. The combination of his experience as a player and as an employee of other tours is what led to his vision of creating the West Coast Tour. Taking what he learned from every step along the way, J.P. has partnered with Co-Director Jonathan Green to bring you a tour that is built on the foundations of player needs, desires, and suggestions.
J.P.’s motivation in founding the WCT was derived from the desire to put the players first. The result is a tour that offers affordable membership and entry fees, the highest quality customer service available to players anywhere, upper echelon competition on some of California’s true quality championship venues, and the promise of a tour where players can feel that their needs are met to the highest degree.
Jonathan Green
Co-Director
Jonathan Green is the Owner and Director of Instruction at the Puterbaugh-Green Academy of Golf in Sisters, OR. Due to the off-season in Central Oregon he is able to be in Southern California to co-direct the Winter Series of the West Coast Tour with partner, J.P. Brown. He played golf for Oregon State University where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Management in 2007. Upon graduation he also set his sights on competing at the professional level. He moved to Southern California to play on a number of the Southern California mini-tours that were available at the time, and quickly found that the cost of professional golf was too high for him to pursue on a long-term basis. He soon entered the certification program at Kip Puterbaugh’s Aviara Golf Academy in Carlsbad, CA, and after receiving his AGA certification he brought his knowledge to the Northwest and located at Aspen Lakes GC. After a successful first year in which he had the opportunity to spend time with a number of former champions of the US Open, Masters, British Open, and PGA Championship, he shifted his focus to building and creating the West Coast Tour. His experiences in business operations, playing as a professional competitor, and in working around major champions make him the perfect business partner for WCT founder J.P. Brown.
Like his partner, Jonathan has a strong passion for bringing WCT members the high quality professional experience they deserve. As a part of this commitment, he will be bringing his mobile academy to California in order to give WCT members the ability to receive on-site instruction at every tournament on the schedule. Jonathan will also be working in close partnership with WCT sponsors to give the membership every benefit possible and help grow the tour throughout its first season.
